Paula has extensive experience leading community engagement and outreach efforts in Wisconsin. Under Paula’s leadership as the previous MATCH Director, the MATCH Group has refined its efforts to work with partners to evolve practice, focus priorities and shift power to support collective action on root causes of health and equity. She provided vision and oversight for a team that conducts 

  • Training & Technical Assistance though building capacity on critical public health and equity practices

  • Engaged Research & Development through developing and sharing scholarship, frameworks and tools for change, and 

  • Statewide Alignment through convening, aligning and growing alliances for shared action.

Prior to joining the Population Health Institute, Paula served in a variety of roles, including as the Health Promotion State Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension; the Assistant Director at the University of Wisconsin Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies; the Transform WI Health Equity Coordinator at the Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Prevention Resources; and was a University of Wisconsin Population Health Service Fellow at the Wisconsin Division of Public Health. 

Through her tenure at these organizations, she has led and developed community-engaged research projects, statewide health equity efforts, cross sector alliances, and training and technical assistance to affect the social, economic and environmental determinants of health to advance health equity. Paula received her Master of Public Health degree and Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
