Karina Atwell

2014-2016 Cohort

Karina earned her MD at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Karina’s interests in community health and underserved populations fueled her engagement in many outreach projects during medical school, and ultimately inspired her commitment to primary care. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in June 2014, with her primary care clinical training based out of the Wingra Family Medicine Center. She also spent five weeks in Haiti working on public health projects as part of her Global Health Pathway focus. Karina decided to pursue additional public and population health training through the University of Wisconsin – Madison Preventative Medicine Residency with the aim of impacting health disparities and primary care systems on a broader scale. She completed her MPH during the program and gained valuable experience working on projects in both state and local public health departments. Preceptor: Parvathy Pillai and Timothy Corden

Post-Fellowship: Karina remains engaged at the Wingra Clinic with population health and health systems improvement works.
