2017-2019 Cohort

Niki received her MPH in Public Health Policy & Administration from UW-Milwaukee's Zilber School of Public Health and her BS from UW-Madison. She was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, which has fueled her passion for improving rural health issues in the state. As an MPH student, she focused her research and coursework on the rural opioid epidemic and worked for the WI Initiative for Stigma Elimination (WISE), a statewide coalition focused on eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. She completed her MPH fieldwork at Outagamie County Public Health where she helped them begin the path towards public health accreditation and was involved in various infrastructure pieces. Further, she partnered with the Children's Health Alliance of Wisconsin, advocating for value-based financing in Wisconsin's Medicaid system. Niki will be placed with the Wood County Health Department in Central WI where she will focus on her rural health passions regarding substance abuse, mental health, and health in all policies.
